Crash! Modern Cozy Chic

vibrant-nursery-4.jpg

My friend Jen graciously let me come Crash! her home just before she started packing it all up for her impending move.  As an interior designer too, she definitely has a natural talent for an effortlessly chic space, but guys, you're gonna die over her little guys nursery! (*metaphorically only- please don't actually die over a room*) As this living room clearly shows- the key to using several colors in a room cohesively is to have something to unify them all.  In here it's the center pillow and the artwork.  And hello 6 patterns?  It doesn't look crazy or busy, just modern, cozy, and welcoming.  Well done, Jen!

Statement lights and large artwork are my current fave for any dining room- the right art and lighting can make a space!  And who are we kidding, I'm always a sucker for antique home details and molding.

I'll stop beating around the bush, though, the real show-stopper in the home is the dwelling of the littlest resident.

I dare you to try and find a more stunning crib!  He's a lucky little man.

Mod crib and a vintage dresser?  He'll be the coolest kid on the playground.

Thanks Jen for letting me share!  Pop over to her new site, Vibrant Way Interiors and say HI.  Good luck with the move, Jen and I can't wait to see what the next home looks like!

Funky Fun Pumpkins

Every time, after the rush to finish a flip, I end up in what is, more or less, a flip hangover.  I'm still playing a bit of catch-up and trying to get into a non-flip routine (which always seems to be the toughest part).  Fall has snuck up on me fast and Halloween is a week away!  I'm still not sure where the summer went, let alone fall!  But I digress.  After a short, head-clearing blogging break, I'm back with my usual schedule of babbling and randomness.  Please enjoy. Aside from Christmas, I've never been much into seasonal decorating.  It's been about 6 years since I carved a pumpkin, however these super-fun, a little funky, and a little different pumpkins have me rethinking my stance a bit.

Looking at this floral pumpkin from Hunted Interior I was instantly intrigued about HOW.  It looks painted!  Turns out it's decoupaged and I wouldn't have guessed.

Speaking of decoupaged and painted....

How very Kate Spade.  I'm such a sucker for polka dots, so Sincerely Sara D had me at gold dot.

This little owl from a Modern Dame is so awesomely adorable.  Those eye 'feathers? Gorg.

Any decorating that also involves power tools and instructions that include "drill into pumpkin" I'm totally on board with!

Have you gotten creative on some gourds lately?  What's your favorite non-jack-o-lantern way to decorate them?  I'm taking notes!

Swapping Roundup

After last week's DIY thrift shopping extravaganza, #swapitlikeitshot, I wanted to share with you some of my favorite projects from the other participants. Corinna from A Designer at Home successfully channeled Anthropologie with her wood beaded pendant light.  The wood beads themselves are my favorite part!

Sometimes a simple spray paint transformation can make a world of a difference.  I loved the wood antelope that Alice from Thoughts from Alice received, but her gold/copper ombre treatment gave it such a wow factor!

I admit, I wasn't a basket fan growing up.  They seemed so cutesy country (maybe it was the blue bows all over them at the time...), but I'm a total convert as I realize their usefulness is never ending.  Melissa from Polished Habitat succeeded at giving a basic basket a modern punch.  Wouldn't this be the cutest with a fiddle leaf fig tree peeking out the top?  (and I heart her background!!)

And there's a reason that Charlotte at Ciburbanity is the queen bee organizer of this swap- she always pulls out some awesome projects and naturally didn't disappoint this time around!  Somehow she saw a kitschy candle holder and envisioned on trend woven wall art.  Kudos!

I love being a part of this fun event, connecting with the other bloggers and seeing how they can re-envision the weird, wacky, and sometimes extraordinarily mundane objects into something completely unexpected!

Did you pop around to all the other #swapitlikeitshot DIY posts?  What was your favorite??
